Riddles Bar - St Lucia Rum Tasting Evening

Riddles Bar, opposite Altrincham market is a trove of alcoholic delight. From skilled cocktail crafting to purveyance of the finest boozy beverages, you have to spend an evening in its cosy vintage confines, experiencing the pleasures of what can only be described as wickedly good drink.
And Clear Duck of the Altrincham Duck team did just that on Thursday evening, attending the Riddles St. Lucia rum tasting evening. Billed (get it!) as being a fine evening of appreciation and exploration, the £25 ticket got you a fun lesson in St. Lucian rum, while tasting rums from the Chairman Reserve and St. Lucian distillery range and enjoying two exquisite rum cocktails.
From the start, the evening had a lovely relaxing vibe – we got there early but that meant time for a quick drink before the rum tasting. The session started about 8pm once everyone arrived and about twenty of us gathered in the front bar, made private for the exclusive evening. It was fair to say we were all ready for the rum and keen to get sampling.
Ladyzone, Altrincham, is running a fundraising event for Cancer Research which started on Monday 25th July. It kicked off offering five free fitness classes throughout the day and offering everyone the chance to indulge in some retail therapy at their in-house pop up boutique. The fundraising event lasts for a full seven days until Sunday 31st July. Ladyzone is looking to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research so please pop by if you are in the area!

For example, a 5km walk or run may be more than what people are able to do.
This way we are trying to get as many of our members and non-members involved in the fundraising as possible! We are looking forward to having a fun week and raising lots of money for a great cause! RPA is based at St George’s Parish Centre in Altrincham, and offers fun & professional drama classes to children and young people.
Red Players have worked with leading actors from Coronation Street, CBBC, Waterloo Road, Hollyoaks – national touring theatre shows – and numerous acclaimed film productions.
This year’s weeklong summer workshop runs from Monday 8th to Friday 12th August.

The Academy is led by principal acting tutor Lee Battle, who began his career as an actor playing the role of Simon Green in Coronation Street. Other television credits include Doctors, The Royal, Casualty, and Wire in the Blood. Lee played Connor in the BAFTA winning BBC drama The Street, and Darryl in ITV’s Vincent alongside Ray Winstone. Film roles include Billy Powell in the screen adaptation of Kevin Sampson’s novel Awaydays, and acting with Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood. Lee has a first class degree in Drama and an MA in Creative Writing with the Royal Exchange and Bolton Octagon Theatres. He also lectures in Media and Performance at The University of Salford.
