Altrincham Duck

Helping Altrincham since 2014

Well it's been a clammy Wednesday morning and McDuckFace and his partner were already between "jobs". We found ourselves heading back to Altrincham so we set our sights set on Sugar Junction for breakfast.

We parked in Regent Road carpark (50p for 2hrs) and made the short walk to Sugar Junction which is opposite the craftsman.

We were lucky to have the cafe to ourself, obviously with the exception of the staff! The waitress (Megan) was very welcoming and quick to seat us.

We chose a window table, both window tables are up-cycled singer table legs with new wooden tops, they provide plenty of leg room and a decent height too. The seats were period chairs with curved backs and arms, very sturdy and comfortable.

The menu's were easy to read and not over complicated, they had a decent amount of variety but not too much where you can't decide what to order!

The waitress told us what the soup of the day was and also explained and apologised that parts of the menu were missing due to a late delivery!

She was very helpful and confident in finding substitutes for the missing ingredients! I was surprised to learn it was Megan's first day at Sugar Junction, she was very polite and seemed to be relaxed and knowledgeable.

We enjoyed a pot of English Breakfast tea for two, it was great to see the shelving behind the counter stacked behind with jars of tea leaves rather than tea bags! The tea was of a fine quality and won't disappoint, even on a warm summers day.

The photo shows half and half of Eggs Benedict &  Beetroot cured salmon. We couldn't decide what we wanted so we shared!

The eggs Benedict was of good quality, the muffin was missing but replaced with a roll that worked equally as well and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The bacon could have been a little crispier but it was still a delicious dish served with a small amount of rocket leaves.

The beetroot cured salmon on potato cakes was the stand out dish on the menu for me, unfortunately though the potato cakes were also missing which was a bit of a disappointment, they were replaced by a roll which worked well but I'm looking forward to returning and trying the dish in full as per the menu.

The beetroot salmon was mouth watering and like heaven on a plate!!! I can't describe how delicious it was, the beetroot gave the salmon a fruity tangy twist and just complimented it so so well!

It was a pleasure to visit Sugar Junction! Not only a treat on the eyes (decor wise) but also a on the taste buds. Everything was seasoned to perfection and needed no salt or pepper at all.

A great team, in a great building in a superb town serving outstanding food! What more could you ask for!
