Coco's Italian Cafe and Restaurant

Coco's Italian Cafe and Restaurant.
We’ve been to Coco’s a fair few times, some good, some bad. The place always seems very busy, which to us is a very good sign, it's advisable to book though. This Sunday afternoon, as my husband was walking by, he decided to book a table for that night as a little surprise.
Located on Regent Road, you can access the restaurant through their main door, or also through a little side door on Central Way. You can also see their menu here http://www.cocositaliancafe.co.uk/index.asp
Husband booked the table for 9 o’clock that night, when we arrived we were seated promptly, due to the fact that for a Sunday night the restaurant wasn’t that busy. The welcome we received was very warm. As we sat down, the waitress immediately gave us the drinks menu and waited for a second while we decided what to have. I opted for a Peroni, small bottle of Italian beer, while the husband decided on a large glass of Chianti. Seen as it was Sunday, therefore a school night for us, we decided not to drink too much so we could properly function on Monday at work!!
The menu is very extensive, so it took us a good few minutes to peruse it in depth; one of the waiters did approach us at some point to let us know about the specials for that day, all sounded good.
As a starter we decided to share the Capesante Riso, a small risotto dish. For main courses I opted for the Vitello Milanese, whilst the husband chose the Ravioli Aragosta.
When the starter arrived, the Capesante Riso, wow, deliciously creamy lemony risotto with a fair amount of scallops, spinach and roasted peppers. Absolutely mouth-watering, couldn’t fault it at all. As we shared the starter it left the perfect amount of space in our bellies for the main courses!
Once we finished the starter, table was quickly cleared, another round of drinks ordered and all the while the very solicitous staff made sure that we were fine and well attended.
My main course the Vitello Milanese, a thinly cut veal steak, bread crumbed and pan fried accompanied by a generous helping of spaghetti in Coco’s own chunky tomato sauce, was absolutely delicious. The portion size was very big, and although I do like to eat, this time the sheer amount of food on the plate defeated me!
The husbands Ravioli Aragosta was also a very good sized portion, pasta filled with lobster with a creamy tomato sauce and topped with some small prawns, as usual I stole some of his food, and yet again I was pleasantly surprised, the filling of the ravioli was very tasty indeed and the creamy tomato sauce gave it a very nice after taste. Another winning dish!
We were both stuffed so we decided not to have a dessert this time round. But we look forward to visiting again very soon!! The display cabinet for the desserts really deserves a thorough look next time we go to Coco’s!
